Introduction
The ME16USB-System is a universal
16-channel extracellular recording system for in vivo and in vitro applications.
With its novel technology using full speed USB 2.0 interface it is a reliable, mobile and very compact recording system.
It comes along with a 16-channel filter amplifier and data acquisition -completed with two 8-channel miniature preamplifiers. Different adapters for multielectrode arrays and headstages are already available. Others can be provided according to your needs.
The system can be connected to any computer or laptop and be controlled from MC_Rack or custom programs (via DLL).
The MC_Rack data file format is compatible with many analysis tools such as Matlab, NeuroExplorer or Origin. MC_Rack feautures
numerous online analysis tools from simple data streaming and storage to online spike sorting, Online digital filtering, online event detector based on threshold or on waveform.
Hardware
Complete plug and play recording systems for in vivo and in vitro applications coming along as:
- Full speed USB 2.0 interface
- 16-channel filter amplifier FA
- Two 8-channel miniature preamplifiers MPA8I
- Various adapters for microelectrode arrays and headstages available
ME16-USB-System: Filter Amplifier
The ME16-USB-System is a complete system for data acquisition from standard microelectrode arrays, perfect for in vivo and in vitro applications.
Raw data from 16 electrodes is amplified by a filter amplifier with fixed gain (100) and a frequency bandwidth from 1- 5000 Hz.
Other gain and filter settings are available on request.
Recorded data is graphed, analyzed, reviewed, and exported with powerful yet easy-to-use MC_Rack program.
The ME16-USB-System is available with 16 input channels.
ME16-USB-System: Preramplifier MPA8I
The miniature head stage preamplifiers MPA8I can be connected directly to the microelectrodes in the test model to provide the first amplification stage of 10.
The MPA8I includes a common ground and one reference electrode input. This allows the measurement of the voltage difference between the electrodes and one reference electrode.
This feature provides a superior common-mode noise rejection.
Noise that is of the same polarity and of the same magnitude is removed.
The same reference is used for all eight inputs.
The MPA's small size allows easy placement.
The metal housing prevents the amplifier from picking up external noise.
The ME16-USB-System comes along with two MPA8I head stages.
Of course we offer adaptors for various kinds of probes:
The MP-ADAPTERs allow a direct connection of e.g Michigan probes (16, 32 and 64 channels) from NeuroNexus Technologies and the 8-trodeTM from ALA Scientific Instruments to our miniature preamplifiers.
MCS provides adapters for almost all probes on request. Please give us a detailed description of your requirements.
Software
Virtual Rack
The main power of MC_Rack is its great flexibility. You can combine various virtual instruments according to your experimental setup. It is up to you, which data streams are displayed on the screen, which are saved, which are analyzed, and so on.
- Saves disk space and computer performance
- Easy handling of up to 128 channels with up to 50 kHz sampling rate
- Various online and offline analysis tools
- Export filters for external standard programs
- Operating system: Windows 2000, or XP; English and German versions supported.
